About

More than six centuries of Italian winemaking, brought to our table by S. Rausi Trading Ltd. Antinori’s wines accompanied Chef Letizia Vella’s menu for Chapter II, introducing our members to the character and diversity of its estates.

The Antinori story reaches back to 1385, when Giovanni di Piero Antinori joined the Florentine Winemakers’ Guild. Across 26 generations, the family has continued to guide the business, combining respect for its vineyards and traditions with a willingness to explore new ideas. That balance has shaped a winemaking legacy extending from its historic estates in Tuscany and Umbria to other regions of Italy and beyond.

Among its celebrated names are Tignanello and Solaia, wines associated with the family’s pioneering approach to modern Italian winemaking. Yet the Antinori world offers considerably more to discover: different landscapes, grape varieties and styles, each expressing the identity of its estate.

For Chapter II, held at the Malta Aviation Museum, Antinori wines were presented through S. Rausi Trading to accompany Chef Letizia Vella’s five-course menu. The selections offered a journey through the family’s estates. Conte della Vipera 2023, from Castello della Sala in Umbria, accompanied the opening courses, followed by Mezzobraccio 2020, a Riesling from Tenuta Monteloro, alongside line-caught fish with vadouvan, sorrel and smoked ginger.

For the chargrilled pork with crispy Maltese sausage, the pairing moved to Marchese Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva 2022, from Tenuta Tignanello. Kaloro Moscato di Trani 2022, from Tenuta Bocca di Lupo in Puglia, accompanied the closing course of kalamansi baked cheesecake with blood orange and buttermilk ice cream.

Together, these wines gave our members an introduction to Antinori beyond a single label: a family’s enduring commitment to winemaking, experienced through the food, conversation and atmosphere of our second chapter.

In Malta, Marchesi Antinori is imported and distributed by S. Rausi Trading Ltd, a family-owned business founded by Stephen Rausi in 1990. With wine at the heart of its offering, the company also represents producers including Meridiana Wine Estate and Donnafugata, while maintaining wholesale distribution of spirits, beverages and coffee.
