Chapter III — The One with Baron Munchausen · 31 July 2026

There are places you spend your whole life looking at, without imagining you might one day sit down to dinner there . St Elmo Breakwater, Valletta, Malta, is one of them.

For our third chapter, The Supper Club | Malta™ brought its table to this extraordinary landmark at the entrance to the Grand Harbour. Our most ambitious production to date, The One with Baron Munchausen became the first-ever dinner held on the iconic breakwater. Even now, it sounds a little improbable. Given our protagonist, that feels rather fitting.

Being there was something else entirely. Open sea on one side, Valletta across the water, and beneath our feet a place so familiar from afar, yet so unfamiliar to stand upon.

The adventure began aboard the Maria C, with cocktails by Eddie Bonello of Molecular Fusion, freshly opened oysters and the harbour setting the scene. By the time guests reached the table, the evening already felt wonderfully removed from everyday life.

Then came dinner.

Chef Adam Demanuele of The Seafood Market Grill created a five-course seafood journey that embraced the setting and the Baron’s appetite for adventure. From prawn and langoustine with Beluga caviar to lobster with wakame béarnaise, turbot with sauce Nantua, and a final, playful meeting of cheesecake and caviar, there was much to talk about between courses.

Our featured wine merchant, Charles Grech, brought a selection that included Barons de Rothschild Champagne, Frescobaldi Benefizio Riserva Chardonnay and Château de Chamirey La Mission Premier Cru. Alberto Bafumi's thoughtful pairings gave each dish room to shine, and every glass its place in the story.

Around the table, another kind of storytelling unfolded.

Charlotte Cardinale and Miguel Bonello brought their voices to the night, while Martina Aisha Montanaro and the Diamond Dolls added dance and aerial artistry. The marine-inspired work of New York artist Skye Ferrante, presented in collaboration with Lily Agius Gallery, found a particularly striking home beside the sea.

And our guests brought the warmth: conversation, laughter, singing and that shared pleasure of finding ourselves somewhere extraordinary, together.

Of course, a breakwater comes without a kitchen, a dining room or a convenient delivery entrance. Every element had to be planned, transported and put into place. Behind the apparent ease of the evening stood months of work and people willing to find a way.

Our particular gratitude goes to our main patrons, DK Nautica, Malta Food Agency and 242 Group, whose belief and expertise helped carry the vision from its earliest conversations to the final execution.

We also warmly thank Bio Aqua Garden and Isle Décor Events, alongside Miggiani Offshore, DiveMed and ABD Health & Safety Consultants, our crews and everyone working behind the scenes.

To Transport Malta, the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage and the authorities who entrusted us with this opportunity: thank you. The privilege of creating an evening here carried a responsibility we took to heart.

The generosity extended beyond the table, too. Through our raffle and donations, €3,200 was raised for the Children in Need Foundation, supporting local children.

Chapter III also marked the unveiling of our first merchandise collection, handcrafted in Malta by Captain's Cut Leather. Gifts were presented to our gentlemen and ladies, just a little of The Supper Club to take home, carrying the care and craftsmanship we celebrate at our table. The collection will remain exclusively available to our members: a discreet connection to the club, long after the evening ends.

Looking back, we feel immense pride in what we achieved together. We pushed our own boundaries, trusted our collaborators and watched an unlikely idea become a night full of life.

For a few remarkable hours, that distant landmark became somewhere we shared dinner.

And none of us will look at it quite the same way again.
